- 1879 Pattern Morgan Dollar. Judd-1613, Pollock-1809. Rarity-7-. Proof-63 (PCGS). OGH--Second Generation. 1884 Pattern Cent. Judd-1721, Pollock-1929. Rarity-5. Proof-68 Cameo (PCGS). CAC. Highly reflective mirror fields grace the frosted white devices. In terms of toning, the rims sport a touch of bright yellow-gold, but the balance of the surfaces are bright, fresh and without a hint of color. The obverse designs are of the regular dies of the Morgan dollar obverse, the reverse with a wholly different standing eagle with a boxy shape and outstretched wings pulled in enough to make room for the legends UNITED STATES OF AMERICA / IN GOD WE TRUST below that legend and ONE DOLLAR at the base of the coin. The eagle clutches a laurel or olive branch in his right claw, and holds three arrows in his left. Boldly contrasted with frosty devices which stand tall against the mirror fields. For the grade assigned, the present coin has strong presence and is certainly at the very high end of the choice category.
