- 1860 Liberty Head Eagle. AU-50 (PCGS). CAC. Here is an impressive example of this underrated No Motto Liberty Head ten-dollar issue. Lustrous surfaces are generally frosty in texture, albeit with faint semi-reflectivity evident in the fields. Adorned with vivid honey-gold, pale orange and rose colors and featuring bold to sharp striking detail. Similar in rarity to the 1859, and popular with collectors due to an equally limited mintage, the 1860 was produced to the extent of just 15,055 pieces. Lower grade circulated survivors are obtained with only a modicum of persistence, thus obscuring the conditionally challenging nature of this issue. At and near the Mint State level, the 1860 is a significant rarity, and this is among the finer survivors that we have brought to auction. Sure to sell for a strong premium.
