- Rare Carson City Seated Half Dollar Steel gray with a hint of blue gold toning in the protected areas of the design. Surfaces are smooth and evenly worn with a minimum of contact marks. The eagle’s wing and neck feathers are intact and the shield lines show separation; this coin is closer to XF than VF. The second of only four years in which the Carson City Mint issued half dollars. Most were used in commerce in the western U.S.; as a result only 200-300 are known in all grades. PCGS 12, NGC 9. PCGS price guide value $2,250. Last PCGS graded coin sold in January 2015 for $1,997, one of only 5 auction appearances in this grade in the last 10 years. Seldom offered and worthy of a strong 4 figure bid. Cert.
