详细说明: 1861 Liberty Seated Half Dollar. Proof-64+ (PCGS). Lovely near-Gem surfaces are golden-tinged overall with a splashes of bolder cobalt blue and rose-apricot iridescence confined to the lower obverse border. Both sides are fully struck with a uniformly mirrored finish also imparted by the dies. From a mintage of 1,000 Proofs, which proved wildly optimistic on the part of Mint employees given the outbreak of the Civil War that year. With many specimens remaining unsold and later fed into commercial channels, the Proof 1861 half dollar is far scarcer than the mintage would imply.
