- 1788 Massachusetts Cent. Ryder 1-D, W-6190. Rarity-2+. Period After MASSACHUSETTS. AU-58 (PCGS). A superb, very nearly Uncirculated example of the type with smooth, mark-free surfaces that retain traces of mint texture in the fields. The color is an attractive autumn-brown with faint traces of olive-gray, the toning perfectly matched on both sides. Well made, the strike is fairly well centered and full apart from a touch of softness at the right obverse and reverse borders. A lovely coin and prime candidate for inclusion in a high quality colonial type set or specialist's Massachusetts copper cabinet. PCGS# 948. NGC ID: 2B27.
