- 1879 Liberty Seated Half Dollar. WB-102. Type II Reverse. MS-64 (NGC). This Choice example displays a satiny appearance in the fields, with sharp, softly frosted devices. Certainly a well made example, tinges of lilac and reddish-gold toning accent the peripheries, and intrude upon the reverse fields to a lesser degree. The 1879 was the first of several low-mintage half dollar issues following the implementation of the Bland-Allison Act of 1878, which mandated that significant resources be exhausted in the production of millions of silver dollars annually.
