- 1873 Liberty Seated Silver Dollar. AU-58 (PCGS). CAC. This is a bright and beautiful example with nearly complete satin luster to both sides. Suitably bold in strike for a Motto Liberty Seated dollar, this premium quality Choice AU is not all that far from Mint State. The final circulation strike silver dollar of this type from the Philadelphia Mint, the 1873 is scarcer than a mintage of 293,000 pieces might imply. Some examples were likely retained in the Mint and melted after the Act of February 12, 1873 abolished the standard silver dollar. PCGS# 6971. NGC ID: 24ZM.
