- 1856 Liberty Seated Quarter. Proof-63 (NGC). A fully struck, pleasingly smooth specimen drenched in dominant steely-charcoal patina, the reverse also with intermingled mauve-gray toning. From an unknown Proof mintage for the date, though it was likely more limited than the 300 Proofs estimated for the 1858 quarter. No matter the size of the production run, the Proof 1856 is scarce to rare in all grades. NGC Census: 7; 12 finer in this category (Proof-66 finest). PCGS# 5552. NGC ID: 23WH.
