FROM THE YOUNG-DAKOTA COLLECTION One of the FINEST examples of this lowest mintage Proof Barber half dollar-indeed, this PR67+ is tied with three others reported at PCGS as FINEST seen! Few, if any can come close to the SUPERB quality and eye appeal of the presently offered beauty. Vividly toned over extremely reflective, watery surfaces are the epitome of perfection. Essentially flawless, this coin is very high end in terms of technical and aesthetic quality. The toning is uniquely patterned on both sides, with swaths of peach, olive, gold, pale blue, lilac, and bold sunset orange that dominates the lower obverse. Only 380 Proofs were struck, making this the LOWEST mintage of the entire series. PCGS 16, NGC 13, CAC 13. This coin sold as a PR67 as part of the Gene Gardner Collection for $9,694 in October 2014; Mr. Gardner bought this SUPERB GEM from an August 2013 auction for $14,688.
