- 1870 Indian Cent. Proof-66 RB (NGC). This splendid Gem retains much of the original rose-orange color, with some minimal iridescent green-gold toning at the peripheral areas. Well mirrored in the fields with smartly impressed devices, this is a very nice survivor from a mintage of 1,000 or so Proofs. Worthy of the strongest bids. All Proof 1870 cents are of the Shallow N reverse hub variety, their dies made early in the year before the Mint adopted the Bold N hub. NGC Census: 11; just 2 finer (Proof-66+* finest). PCGS# 2298.
