- A beautiful SUPERB Morgan dollar pattern, essentially a twin to the J-1615 we sold in our July 2017 Regency Auction. Struck using a regular issue proof die for the 1879 dollar, paired with Morgan's large perched eagle design. Struck in Silver with a reeded edge, and rated R-7- with about a dozen or so pieces believed to survive. Both sides of this impressive Premium Quality SUPERB GEM boast icy smooth, reflective mirrors that beam through lovely iridescent toning. Shades of gold, orange, teal, and blue blend on both sides, adding depth of character to the exceptional eye appeal. For the type the details are very sharply struck and frosty with bold contrast. The eye appeal is spectacular! PCGS 1, NGC 0, CAC 1. It cannot be denied that this coin is among the absolute FINEST KNOWN examples. In April 2017, a non-CAMEO example brought $30,550 and Collector's Universe does not yet have an estimate for CAMEO. The above mentioned J-1615 was graded PCGS PR67+ CAM CAC realized $39,950. Bound for either an advanced pattern or Morgan dollar collection, either way, this coin would fit in beautifully! Cert. Number 84347324 PCGS # 134097
