- A very handsome piece, that displays a full and thick mint frost and rich golden tone. The devices are fully struck and the surfaces are very clean, nearly of full GEM quality! PCGS 258, NGC 328, CAC 35. Only 17 examples are graded as MS64+ at PCGS and are included in these numbers. You can tell that CAC is uber-tough on gold coins. Not only that, this is a date that because of the spread between MS64 and MS65, there is likely a LOT of duplication in the grading reports, as the same coin is submitted multiple times trying for a 65 grade. The finest graded at PCGS is a trio of coins at MS65+. The most recent PCGS/CAC MS64+ sold for $3,819 back in February 2016. At that time, the market was being hit by a perfect storm of a crashing stock market, oil prices, and low gold prices; now with gold prices at near two year highs, all-time highs on the stock market, and a slight recovery in coins, this coin should sell for more!
