1843-C Liberty Quarter Eagle. Small Date. AU-55 (NGC). A rare coin that is seldom offered. The mintage came in at 2,988 pieces, and most of these disappeared long ago. This piece is reasonably well struck, shows scattered circulation marks and a few shallow scratches, but clearly shows the diagnostic features. One prominent die crack extends from the rim to Liberty's bust tip, and the C mintmark is high and embedded in the arrow feathers on the upper portion. This date and variety are one of the more challenging Charlotte Mint issues to obtain.
