1849 Braided Hair Cent. N-22. Rarity-1. Noyes Die State B/C (N-6). MS-65 RB (PCGS). CAC. <strong>Die Variety: </strong>Newcomb-22 is one of 30 varieties for the date and is also known as N-6.<br /> <strong>&nbsp;&nbsp;<br /> Die State: </strong>From the lapped state of both dies with raised lines and other die markers now&nbsp;absent from the details (N-6).<strong>&nbsp;&nbsp;</strong>&nbsp;<br /> <br /> <strong>Strike: </strong>Fairly sharp throughout but with some softness in some of the radials of the obverse stars.<strong>&nbsp;</strong>&nbsp;<strong>&nbsp;<br /> </strong><br /> <strong>Surfaces: </strong>A satiny Gem with robust cartwheel luster and excellent all-around eye appeal. Soft rose-brown iridescence engages both sides. No noticeable marks of flecks are seen.<br /> &nbsp;<br /> <strong>Census Rankings: </strong>The Noyes Census lists this specimen as third finest, while McCawley-Grellman calls it second finest known.
