- Luxurious Proof 1883 Silver Dollar
1883 Morgan Silver Dollar. Proof-65+ (PCGS). CAC.
Beautiful Gem surfaces are originally toned with olive-russet peripheral color framing lighter silver-gray centers. Under direct lighting the peripheral toning explodes into vivid shades of cobalt blue, pinkish-rose and orange-gold that provide truly outstanding eye appeal. Expertly preserved with full striking detail throughout, this enchanting specimen will please even the most discerning numismatist.
The Philadelphia Mint produced 1,039 Proof silver dollars in 1883, the typical survivor encountered in today's market grading no finer than Proof-64. Upper end Gems such as this are scarce and always in demand, especially when accompanied by CAC approval at the assigned grade level.
Provenance: From the Collection of James Allaire Millholland, 1842-1911.
PCGS Population: 1; 23 finer in this category (Proof-68 finest).
CAC Population: 10; 8. The former total includes coins certified both Proof-65 and Proof-65+.
