Yes, this coin did very much sell for $73,437.50 in our July Regency Sale. Since then the collector decided to concentrate on other areas (he bought the Lord St. Oswald-Norweb 1794 Dollar in PCGS MS64 CAC out of the recent ANA Sale). He quickly realized this coin did not really fit into the set he is building, so here it is-back for sale totally UNRESEVED. Here is our description from the last sale: Welcome back to the market! This coin has been away for a minimum of 20+ years. It is from the estate of a major Trade Dollar collector. This coin’s quality is great. Outstanding super satiny smooth surfaces are visible all over. Even using a strong glass you will find hardly any scrapes or ticks. A moderate luster greatly enhances the totally original colors. A thick band of navy opens into deep champagne centers. There are no spots or discolorations. Miss Liberty and the details are sharply struck and are way above average. We assure you, this is not your typical 1878-CC Trade Dollar. The overall eye appeal is very pleasing! PCGS 8, NGC 5, CAC 4. The last PCGS MS64 CAC piece to sell in auction brought $69,000 in August2012. We paid $54,050 for a NGC MS63+ CAC in June 2016. The current Collectors Universe Value is $79,000. PCGS has graded only 2 coins higher (the MS65 last sold for $143,750 back in January 2007). The extreme rarity of this date and grade are undeniable.
