1862 Pattern Seated Liberty Half Dollar. Judd-293, Pollock-351. Rarity-5. Proof-64 (PCGS). The obverse exhibits the familiar Seated Liberty design of the regular issue 1862 Half Dollar. The reverse design is also similar to that of the regular issue 1862 Half Dollar, but the motto GOD OUR TRUST has been added to a scroll positioned in the field above the eagle. Struck in silver with a reeded edge.<br />     This interestingly toned piece exhibits olive-charcoal and pinkish-gray patina, the former color dominant on the obverse while the latter blankets much of the reverse. Both sides are fully struck with no outwardly noticeable handling marks. Coins of this type were incorporated into pattern proof sets of 1862; approximately two dozens specimens are believed extant in all grades.
