- Connecticut--Waterbury. 1837 J.M.L. & W.H. Scovill. HT-105, Low-130. Rarity-3. Copper. 28.5 mm. MS-62 BN (NGC). Marbled antique copper and golden-brown patina greets the viewer from both sides of this hard and satiny example. A swirl of ancient encrustation in the obverse field behind the eagle's neck is noted, but otherwise the surfaces are smooth in hand. Boldly to sharply defined in most areas, this is a pleasing Mint State example from a significant issuer in the Hard Times token series. Provenance: From the Ralph A. Edson Collection.
