详细说明: 1845 Liberty Seated Half Dollar. Proof-64 Cameo (PCGS). CAC. The boldly reflective steel-gray mirror fields and the frosty motifs are alive with a rich display of bold peach, crimson, and royal blue iridescence throughout. The strike is sharp and impressive in all quarters. We note a tiny raised die artifact in the obverse field below the date. A rare prize indeed, the Proof 1845 half dollar was struck in limited quantity, though uncertainty prevails as to the actual number; it certainly must only have been a small number, perhaps on the order of just a dozen or so pieces all told. (While we may seem a little high -- or a little low -- on that number, depending on where you straddle the fence, we feel it's in the ballpark.) The present Proof 1845 half dollar represents one of just two Proof examples of the date certified by PCGS and is the finest of the two. That firm's website suggests just three to five Proof examples are extant in any grade, and we have seen so few of the issue over the years that we are in agreement. Don't wait for another Proof 1845 half dollar to come along if you've taken a fancy to this specimen, as you will probably find yourself waiting in vain.
