Impressive Chinese Grottoes 5 Ounce Gold Issue (t) CHINA. Gold 2000 Yuan (5 Ounces), 2002. Chinese Grottoes Art. NGC PROOF-70 Ultra Cameo Fr-231; KM-1436. Mintage: 288. AGW: 4.995 oz. This finely engraved and very attractive example boasts sharply struck frosted devices with hard flashy mirrored fields. Seldom encountered, this low mintage issue features snippets from the largest and most impressive collection of art from the late Northern Wei and Tang Dynasties. This enormous collection contains over 100,000 lime-stone carved statues and more than 2,500 steles and are considered a high point of Chinese stone carving. Sold with the certificate of authenticity, serial number 000264.
