- 1878-CC Trade Dollar. VF-35 (PCGS). An attractively, boldly and originally toned mid grade example of this key date trade dollar issue. The 1878-CC has a mintage of just 97,000 pieces, far and away the smallest circulation strike mintage in the series. On July 19, 1878, some 44,148 trade dollars were melted; it is presumed that they were all pieces dated 1878-CC, leaving a net mintage for the issue of 52,852 pieces.
