Tompkins Die Stage 3/1, Rea et al. Die State b. Satiny and smooth-looking surfaces are dusted with delicate iridescent toning in champagne-apricot and pale blue. There are no sizeable marks, and a faint planchet drift mark (as made) is well concealed within the hair strands and cap behind Liberty's temple. Our multiple offerings for such examples in this sale notwithstanding, Mint State Capped Bust quarters of the Large Diameter type are scarce in an absolute sense and can be quite rare from a market availability standpoint. This one will nicely represent the design type in many collections.
