A very neat looking XF coin. Possessing lovely surfaces show nothing but light, honest wear and a few microscopic hairlines visible under a powerful loupe. Very attractive old toning accents the sharply struck devices. All of the estimated 16,000 1824 quarters were struck from a single pair of dies. The obverse was originally engraved for 1822, and was brought into service, after a 4 was punched over the final 2 in the date. The reverse die was first used to strike the rare 1823/2 quarter, used in 1824, and then used again in 1825 and 1828. PCGS 15, NGC 4. The CU value is $5,500 and it would not surprise if this coin sold for a strong price. Cert. Number 85731132 PCGS # 5335
