1876-S Liberty Quarter Eagle. MS-62 (PCGS). Attractive coppery-gold toning over lustrous fields. Centennial year issue, and seldom found this nice. All 1876 quarter eagles have a "bar" on Liberty's jaw, apparently some form of damage on the master hub that year that appears on both coins of this date from Philadelphia and San Francisco (mintmarks were added at the Philadelphia mint, then prepared dies were shipped to the branch mints, accounting for this feature appearing on both issues). Mintage of 5,000 pieces precludes commonality.
