详细说明: The 1851-O dime is an under appreciated rarity in the series. VERY RARE in any Mint State grade, only 11 have been graded as such by PCGS and NGC combined, this CHOICE AU piece is a great coin for the collector. Only 400,000 were struck, and since these were struck heavier, pre-Act of 1853 standard, many of these got melted down as their silver content exceeded the face value. Mottled lilac, steel, and pewter tones are seen on both sides. Slight rub on the surfaces account for the grade. Some typical striking weakness is seen on the head and ribbon on the wreath, normal for the issue. There are some ancient ticks acquired during its brief stay in circulation, they have minimal impact on the visual effect. PCGS 3, NGC 7. The most recent example to sell realized $2,640 in February 2021 and the current Collectors Universe value is $3,250.
