- From a lower mintage of 1,100 coins struck in proof format, the 1879 Proof Morgan is seen far less often in the market than it's contemporaries of the 1880's. The present coin actually presents plenty of cameo on both the obverse and reverse; something that PCGS failed to recognize. The light, attractive toning attests to its originality.
