FROM THE INCLINE COLLECTION Tied for second FINEST graded example of this conditionally challenging date with full step definition. The vast majority of the nearly 60 million nickels struck, the mint was more concerned with mass production for commercial use, rather than a high quality product. The devices are usually devoid of solid striking definition, especially on Monticello. This coin shows bold striking throughout, with the details of the columns, steps, and windows of Jefferson's famed home showing crisply. Brilliant, satiny luster radiates on both sides, accenting the mint fresh, nickel-silver surfaces. The eye appeal is wonderful for a Jefferson nickel. PCGS 4, NGC 1. The only PCGS-graded MS66+ sold in the 2015 FUN auction for $3,760 and the current PCGS Price Guide value is listed at $3,750. There are three coins graded MS67 FS at PCGS, the only one of those to sell in auction realized $15,275 in the 2016 FUN auction. Clearly these are extremely rare and very rarely offered for sale.
