- Tompkins Die Stage 1/3 (late), Rea et al. Die State b (Stage 2, late), Rarity-6. Much softly frosted luster remains to surfaces that also retain sharp striking detail to most design features. Wear is expectably light for the assigned grade, most noticeably on the high points of Liberty's portrait, and we see only wispy handling marks that do not warrant individual attention. Attractively toned in iridescent silver-olive and reddish-apricot, the latter color deepens appreciably at the borders. This is a lovely coin to represent the middle reverse die state of this complex Browning number. Here Reverse Die Stage 3 is late, with the crack from the border after the final letter A in AMERICA not only extending through all three arrow heads, but continuing rather boldly to the period in the denomination.<p><strong>Steve M. Tompkins Commentary:</strong> When I saw this coin at the Denver ANA show I was thrilled. What I nice example, and the rare middle die stage of the break at the arrowheads. I have not seen a nicer one.
