FROM THE YOUNG-DAKOTA COLLECTION. This is the epitome of what an original, deeply toned Proof Morgan dollar should look like! Flashy, watery reflective mirrors beam all over the fields. Sharply struck devices look like they were carved out by hand! As you rotate the surfaces in a light, rose, orange, violet, azure, and gold gleam with a sparkling brilliance. The colors really do come to life in the light. After 1900 the mint changed its Proof production methods, polishing the entire surface of the dies, rather than protecting the devices which would keep them frosty, imparting a cameo contrast (1901-1904 dollars almost never have contrast). Only 755 Proofs were ever struck. PCGS 32, NGC 40, CAC 4. The most recent PCGS/CAC coin to sell in auction realized $5,581 back in September 2012. That was over half a dozen years ago!
