- An engaging piece, with brilliant surfaces and strong satiny mint luster on both sides. There are no marks of note, as befits the assigned grade. The strike is crisp and readily upholds the FBL designation from NGC. Rare at this certified grade level, the 1961-D is a workhorse issue with most examples poorly produced and carelessly handled before entering commerce. A refreshing exception, the offered coin has much that will appeal to advanced Franklin half dollar enthusiasts.
