- FROM THE SEATTLE COLLECTION This is a very rare and seldom encountered trime die trial, struck in copper from the regular issue Proof dies, and is considered to be R-7-, with perhaps 7-12 known in all grades. Combined, PCGS and NGC have graded nine examples which might include some duplication; Pollock lists eight, including two in the Connecticut State Library and one in the ANS. Highly reflective surfaces gleam with a strong, watery mirrored texture. Pleasing color, including the majority of the surfaces boasting the original red mint color, with faded accents of azure and violet that really pop in a brilliant light source. A few scattered micro-flecks are seen with the aid of a strong glass, which do not impact the overall SUPERB quality and visual allure. PCGS 1, NGC 1, CAC 1. This is the ONLY one in PR65 RB, recently crossed over from NGC to PCGS. Off the market for a decade, last selling as NGC PR65 RB without a CAC sticker in April 2010, where it realized just shy of $10,000. The PCGS Price Guide only goes to PR64 RB, which is listed at $8,500. If you specialize in three cent silvers, and want to extend your collection, these RARE patterns seem to be a bargain! Cert.
