- THE TERRA PISTACIA COLLECTION The final Trade Dollar Pattern from this ORIGINAL set. This is a FABULOUSLY preserved beautiful GEM. Similar to the adopted dies, with minor differences on the obverse and a small perched eagle on the reverse. Struck in silver with a reeded edge this is a popular Rarity-4 Pattern. Sold in six-piece sets, distributed by well connected Philadelphia area coin dealers. Gorgeous! Deep, highly reflective fields beam with a strong underlying brilliance. The devices are razor sharp with thickly frosted devices. Exceptionally well preserved, this GEM has a beautiful mix of rich toning, similar to the other Trade Dollar Patterns in this set. The eye appeal is stunning with a nearly full Cameo contrast on both sides. Ex Richard B. Winsor Collection, Chapman Brothers, December 1895, lot 1135 (part of a six-piece set, see following lots); J.M. Clapp Collection; Clapp Estate to Eliasberg, via Stack's in 1942; Louis E. Eliasberg Collection, Bowers & Merena, May 1996, lot 307. PCGS 7, NGC 0, CAC 5. The Simpson coin sold in February 2021 for $7,800 and the current PCGS Price Guide value is listed at $9,000. Just a single PR66 is graded higher. This GEM is an amazing pattern issue. Likely held together since time of issue, it is our hope this and the preceding five lots stay together. Good luck. Cert.
