From a mintage of 852,500, this date is avidly sought by collectors at all levels from low-grade or damaged pieces to GEM Mint State pieces. The MS64 RB grade is one of the most popular for collectors, as full red examples are very few and far between! The presently offered coin is a hair's breadth from a full Gem grade. A wealth of glowing original red color glows below a dusting of rich violet and slate blue tones. There is a strong, flashy semi-PL underlying luster that accents the sharply struck devices.
