By the late 1890s, the Philadelphia mint had achieved complete mastery of the art of creating proof strikes with amazing contrast, with consistent output of phenomenal specimens. This superb proof showcases that technical mastery as it offers utterly beautiful frost on the devices, layered over an almost inimitable degree of reflectivity in the fields. So close to perfection, there is hardly anything that can be used as a pedigree marker, except perhaps for a minuscule break in the frost on Liberty's chin.
