An old friend from our January 2019 offering of the Sand Hill Collection. We liked the coin back then, and even more so today. RARE in GEM and higher, the mintage was limited to 6,300 and PCGS CoinFacts estimates that perhaps 300 survived in all grades; 35 in MS65 or finer. This example is entirely original, has great color, and a brilliant luster. Well struck and free of any distracting marks or lines this GEM 1870 gold dollar is truly a pleasure to look at! PCGS 12, NGC 5, CAC 3. The current PCGS Price Guide value is listed at $5,000 and the CAC CPG value is $5,620. No CAC approved example has sold in the nearly four years since this coin crossed the block.
