A condition census B-3, BB-213 that in the days before professional grading could have passed for, and cataloged as a "Brilliant Uncirculated." Both sides display a fully brilliant mint luster that glows vividly all over on both sides. Pearlescent silvery surfaces have a rich, mint frost which amplifies the glorious clear-gold iridescent toning that adorns both sides. Only the slightest hint of friction on the highest points, what could be called "cabinet" friction, is seen on the highest points of the design. Sharply struck from Die State II, with clashed dies and peripheral die rust on the reverse. Every detail is sharply and crisply rendered by a powerful blow from the dies. There are no marks of any consequence of any kind to be found anywhere. The eye appeal is amazing. PCGS 23, NGC 18, CAC 5. The only PCGS/CAC example to sell in auction realized $30,550 in our November 2018 Regency Auction. This spectacular coin should realize a strong hammer price, in excess of published price guide values. This coin has a visual impact of a higher grade and will delight any early dollar specialist.
