- A highly desirable 20C pattern, indeed, this is a smoking hot denomination in the pattern series. Featuring Baily's Seated Liberty design, similar to what was proposed the previous year for use on the trade dollar, Liberty seats facing left, hand on the globe, with agricultural produce on either side. Struck in copper with a plain edge, this coin was struck on a heavy 92.6 grain thick planchet. Deeply reflective, copper surfaces are intensified by EXQUISITE teal, aquamarine and honey gold overtones. Under powerful magnification, a couple of tiny fly specks and a small disturbance after the final A of are noted. Nothing that is not commensurate with the grade. Exceptionally crisp motifs are accented by thick mint frost. Although the obverse and reverse have a slightly different interpretation of Miss Liberty and the eagle motif, the reverse is quite similar to the adopted Mint design used for regular issue twenty-cent pieces whose production commenced in 1875. PCGS 6, NGC 1, CAC 2. This is the SOLE 64+ and FINEST GRADED for the designation at PCGS! This piece sold in August 2019 for $10,800 (before being upgraded to the "+"). With the way collectors are pursuing the 20C pattern series, we anticipate spirited bidding to break out for this beauty! Cert. Number 37860369 PCGS # 61659.00
