- INDIA. Mughal Empire. Fanam, ND. Possibly Karpa Mint. Ahmad Shah Bahadur (1748-54). NGC MS-65. Fr-unlisted; KM-B450.1. Sharply struck with plenty of luster and light attractive tone. A magnificent example with good eye appeal sure to be a welcome addition to the next collection it enters. Succeeding his father, Muhammad Shah, as the 13th Mughal Emeror at the age of 22. At the time he ascended the throne the Mughal Empire was already in decline. His weak administrative abilities eventually led to an uprising by Feroze Jung III who deposed him and blinded him and his mother. He would spend the remaining years of his life in prison dying of natural causes in 1775. Estimate: $100 - $150.
