- 1860-C Liberty Head Half Eagle. Winter-1. MS-61 (NGC). Sharply defined in all most areas, save for the center of the reverse, this superior Mint State Charlotte Mint half eagle displays vivid color in a rich olive-orange. This lustrous and satiny piece is sure to have no difficulty finding its way into an advanced collection of Southern gold. After all, the modest mintage of 14,813 leaves few for collectors today, that of course in any grade available, but in Mint State this issue becomes a major rarity. There are only a few dozen that qualify in true Mint condition, and fewer still have as much eye appeal as noted here. Provenance: From the Augustana Collection.
