VERY CHOICE and deeply toned, this 1871 Proof Seated Liberty dollar is totally original. Clearly this coin was stored for ages in an old collector envelope. Watery reflection does flash from under the rich layers of pastel iridescent tones when rotated in a light. Shades of dove are infused with blues, roses, pinks, lilacs, and are mixed together with a pearlescent sheen. Sharply struck, the devices stand out and the eye appeal is pleasing overall. Only 960 Proofs were struck. PCGS 60, NGC 29. This is the most recent example to sell in auction, where it sold for $4,080 in November 2022. The current PCGS Price Guide value is listed at $6,250. Conditionally challenging any finer, despite nearly two dozen graded higher at PCGS, these DO NOT appear in auction with any frequency. Bid accordingly. Cert. Number 45365912 PCGS # 7019
