详细说明: This is a popular date Carson City double eagle, a generally pleasing Mint State coin from this old wild west mint. These large gold coins bearing the CC mintmark evoke images from the classic western films of gun slingers, card games, saloons, etc. The presently offered piece has just some very minor traces of contact, and some ancient, directional hairlines that account for the assigned grade. A bold satiny frost enlivens the surfaces. There is a planchet flaw, as struck, between the date and star 13 on the obverse that we also mention for the sake of accuracy, but overall the eye appeal is nice for a coin of this grade. PCGS 131, NGC 95. We think there is some duplication on the Population Reports in MS61 and MS62, in hopes of getting a MS63 grade. The most recent PCGS MS61 sold in the 2022 FUN auction for $11,700 and the current Collectors Universe value is listed at $13,500. Expect strong bidding when this wild west relic crosses the block.
