- MEXICO. 4 Escudos, 1735-Mo MF/F. Mexico City Mint. Philip V. PCGS AU-58. Fr-9; KM-137; Cal-2037. Quite likely one of the finest examples of the date extant, this tremendously appealing specimen hardly exhibits any evidence of handling or time in circulation, all while offering an enticing prooflike nature to the blazing surfaces. The strike is rather exacting and, unsurprisingly, this VERY RAREexample tops the PCGS population report. Compare to a similar example, a PCGS AU-50, but seemingly miles behind the present piece, that realized a total of $3,840 in our 2022 NYINC auction (Lot # 2284). Estimate: $3,000 - $5,000.
