- A very wholesome and attractive example of this scarce Carson City half eagle. Only 12,958 were struck for circulation, and once issued, they seem to have remained in commercial channels. Pale, honey-wheat color graces both sides of this lightly worn example. The details are bold on both sides and the surfaces are relatively clean for the assigned grade. There are no serious marks to distract the eye. PCGS 13, NGC 22. The most recent NGC-graded example sold in September 2019, prior to the current strong market for better gold coins began. It is interesting to note that no PCGS-graded example has sold in 22 years! This is a very handsome example worthy of placement in a wonderful set of half eagles. Cert. Number 3463456002 PCGS # 8362
