On exceptional occasions, NGC will provide a "DPL" designation for qualifying gold dollars, and at arm's length, this appears to be such an example, albeit PCGS only went to the "prooflike" level. Light friction in the fields may explain this, but nevertheless, bright illumination energizes prodigious eye-appeal for such a diminutive gold coin.
