- 1787 Fugio Copper. Pointed Rays. Newman 8-B, W-6740. Rarity-3. UNITED STATES, 4 Cinquefoils. MS-64 RB (PCGS). 141.0 grains. A lovely and desirable Mint State Fugio copper pedigreed to the legendary Garrett Collection. Fresh, frosty surfaces are aglow with cartwheel luster and a significant amount of original mint red still gleams out from the protected areas of the design. The strike is nicely centered and bold just about everywhere, with only some of the usual weakness at the first and last letters of BUSINESS. There are no noteworthy abrasions and only light planchet streaks mostly on the reverse. Clearly superior to the vast majority of Mint State examples from the Bank of New York Hoard.
