- URUGUAY. Christopher Columbus/400th Anniversary of the Discovery of the New World Tin Medal, 1892. PCGS MS-62. cf. Eglit-284; YF-292. By R. Muzio. Diameter: 58mm. Obverse: Bust of Columbus left; Reverse: Date in three lines within circular legend; all within banded wreath of oak and laurel branches. Mostly gray throughout, this Mint State specimen is quite RAREand interesting, and one which is undoubtedly lacking from most collections of Columbiana. Though holdered as Uruguay, it is difficult to say exactly to where this piece should be ascribed. A different example exists sharing the obverse design and paired with a Paraguayan-related reverse.
