- An awe-inspiring Superb Gem whose virtually pristine surfaces are minimally toned in champagne-pink iridescence to allow ready appreciation of a satin to semi-reflective finish. Fully struck with outstanding quality and eye appeal for the type as well as the individual issue. The mintage for the Proof 1873 nickel three-cent piece was not recorded by Mint personnel at the time, but it is likely on the order of 1,500 coins, as opined by John W. Dannreuther in the 2023 volume of his reference <em>United States Proof Coins</em>. This is one of the very finest specimens known to the major third party certification services, a condition rarity par excellence that will please even the most discerning collector.
