- A marvelous GEM Proof 1893 dollar. Deeply reflective mirrors beam with bold clarity and a very glassy flash. The details do show some light weakness in the centers, which is typical for the date. A light halo of very light golden tone adds to the excellent eye appeal. What an amazing looking GEM PROOF! Only 792 were struck. PCGS 6, NGC 10, CAC 5. No CAC approved PR65 CAM has ever graded--neither a PCGS nor an NGC. The most recent PCGS coin sold in October 2012 for nearly $8,000. The current PCGS Price Guide lists a price of $6,750.
