- MEXICO. Emiliano Zapata Commemorative Gold Medal, ND (ca. 1961-63)-Mo. NGC MS-67. 38 mm; 41.47 gms. Grove-P-378. Emiliano Zapata on horseback speaking to farmer standing to side; Reverse: Mexican flag with radiant sun behind with inscription on scroll below. Struck to commemorate the 50th anniversary of Zapata's proclamation of the Plan de Ayala. A RAREmodern mint issue with a mintage of just 110 piece struck in gold over a three year period. Sharply struck with lightly brushed dies. Incredibly brilliant with a nice satin luster on the frosted devices. Fully worthy of it's lofty gem grade with no signs of contact or handling to be found.
