This is a tough date in any Mint State grade, and becomes RARE any finer than MS64. Satiny, nickel-gray luster gleams around sharply struck devices. Indeed this coin is quite well struck for the date. Delicate golden tone can be seen on both sides in the fields. There is a single tiny tick on the obverse and a microfleck or two on the reverse, which account for the assigned grade. The eye appeal is quite high end for the grade. PCGS 254, NGC 125, CAC 30. There are 9 graded at the current level at PCGS. Only one PCGS/CAC example has ever sold in auction, realizing $2,520 in the 2018 ANA auction. Prior to that, a non-CAC coin sold for $3,290 in June 2017. Collector's Universe lists a $3,850 value in this grade, and the last PCGS/CAC MS65 CAC sold for $7,800 in December 2018. Cert.
